Jim Starkey

Jim Starkey is Falcon Architect and a MySQL Principal Engineer. Jim has been instigator, implementor, or founder of any number of database products including DEC’s Datatrieve and Rdb/ELN (instigator), Interbase Software (founder), Firebird (gadfly) and Firebird/Vulcan (developer), and Netfrastructure, Inc. (founder). Jim is known as the inventor of the blob, multi-generational concurrency control, and probably the date datatype. When he can find the time, he sails and flies a small plane.
