This session will describe why and how to create interactive OLAP applications using MySQL Enterprise and the Mondrian OLAP Engine.

A dimensional data model and an OLAP engine can empower your business users with the ability to interactively analyze business data in a self-service fashion.

Building these kinds of applications on MySQL Enterprise includes a number of design considerations relative to performance, security, and end-user access.

The session will also include mini case-studies on how organizations like Loma Linda University Healthcare, BNSF Logistics, and Unionfidi analyze and optimize their businesses using open source OLAP.

Finally, this presentation will include a brief overview and demonstration of Mondrian 3.0.

Julian Hyde is founder and chief architect of SQLstream. He has over fifteen years experience in database and business intelligence technology, having served as a senior engineer at Oracle in the kernel group, as well as founding Broadbase software.
